TUFT - OPEN CALL

Eligibility:

We welcome submissions for Tuft, an exhibition of work from all disciplines that explore needle punching, hand tufting, hand-knotting, and machine tufting as process and/or subject. 

About the Juror:

TIM EADS (@this_is_tim_eads) is a Philly-based designer and printer. From Cranbrook Academy of Art to a stint in Mexico, he's worked as a graphic designer, art instructor, master printer, and artist for over 20 years. He was a Master Printer and Project Manager at The Fabric Workshop and Museum in Philadelphia from 2009-2015. Since then, he's called Philly his home. His work has been exhibited across the United States with notable shows at Woodmere Art Museum, Philadelphia, PA; The Delaware Contemporary, Wilmington, DE;  Please Touch Museum, Philadelphia, PA; Delaware Art Museum, Wilmington, DE; among others. His work is found in several public collections: The West Collection, Oaks, PA; Please Touch Museum, Philadelphia, PA; Kirkland Museum of Decorative Arts, Denver, CO.

Limitations:

Works cannot exceed a weight of 40 pounds. Work can not be longer/larger than 36 inches (91cm) in its longest dimension. All works must be equipped with hanging hardware for installation. Works that require special installation must come with clear instructions. Any works that require complicated specialized installation must be installed by the artist. We reserve the right to reject work for the exhibition that differs significantly from the submitted images and/or for craft issues. Work must be presentation/display quality and hang ready. Binder clips and command strips are not considered presentation/display quality.

 

Submissions & Fees:

Only original works may be submitted. The fee is $35.00 for up to three (3) images. All entries must be registered/received by December 6, 2019 (DEADLINE EXTENDED TO DECEMBER 13, 2019), at 11:59 PM ET. All entry fees are non-refundable.

 

Image Specifications: VERY IMPORTANT

Three images total (1 image of three different works for a total of 3 images)

Format: JPG

DPI: 72

Dimensions: 1200 pixels or greater on the longest side. Anything larger than 1200 px will be resized to fit the limitations.

Size: no larger than 5 MB

File Naming Requirement: LastName_ImageNumber.jpg (For example: Eads_01.jpg)

Schedule:

Entry Deadline: 12/6/19 (DEADLINE EXTENDED TO 12/13/19)

Accepted Work Notification (by email): 1/1/2020

Deadline for Delivery: 1/27/20

Event Dates: 2/7/20 - 3/20/20

Reception: 2/7/20, 6-9P

Liability:

GROUP Projects will take great care handling artworks for exhibition. However, GROUP Projects, its staff, and the gallery are not responsible for any damage that may occur. We strongly recommend artists insure the works themselves. Shipping your work means you agree to this.

 

Shipping:

GROUP Projects will provide a $75 stipend to all selected artists to assist with shipping costs. GROUP Projects is not responsible for any damage, breakage, replacement or cost associated with any damage or breakage that may have occurred during transport or unpacking the work. Every precaution will be taken in handling the work, but GROUP Projects assumes no liability for any loss or damage to any artist’s work while in our care, custody or control, before, during or after the exhibition. Each artist, if they wish, needs to provide their own insurance. All accepted works must arrive by end of day Monday, January 27th, 2020 without exception. Hand-delivered works are accepted through pre-arrangement; please contact groupprojectsphl@gmail.com. Works should be shipped in reusable containers for return. Clearly indicate any packing directions for the return of works. Works that are not picked up within one month of the end of the exhibition become the property of GROUP Projects.

Gallery Fees:

All artwork must be priced to sale. Artwork cannot be withdrawn, nor sales shipped, before the end of the exhibit. GROUP Projects will retain a 50% commission on all exhibition sales. The price represented on the artist entry form will be the sale price. No changes will be allowed.

 

Entry Agreement:

With the submission of artwork into the Tuft Exhibition, the artist agrees to all the terms and conditions set forth in this prospectus.
